What is Trauma-Informed Therapy?

Recognizing that trauma can influence emotional, cognitive, and physical health, Trauma-Informed Therapy is a therapeutic approach that acknowledges and responds to the effects of all types of trauma throughout our lifetime.

Compassionate Support for Trauma Recovery

My practice is sensitive to the complexities of trauma and prioritizes creating a safe, respectful, and understanding environment. Whether from recent events or long-held traumas, I offer a path that is both empathetic and effective. I am particularly fascinated by methods that are designed to help you become more attuned to your bodily sensations and learn to interpret and respond compassionately to these signals.

What is Somatic Experiencing?

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a somatic therapy developed by Dr. Peter Levine that focuses on healing the impacts of trauma.

How Somatic Experiencing Works

Somatic Experiencing offers a hopeful perspective on trauma. It rests upon the human animal’s inherent instincts and intelligence to heal. Using grounding and orienting exercises, and through tracking sensations in the body, Somatic Experiencing can help you understand and transform the residual symptoms of trauma, such as hypervigilance, overstimulation/overwhelm, dissociation, etc. Over time and with practice, we will work toward building the elements of a healthy nervous system, which is one that can navigate the cycles of activity and rest, functioning within a range of resilience.
I have completed my Beginning and Intermediate years of Somatic Experiencing training, and I will complete my final Advanced level training in Fall 2024.
